indyRIOT at HubBerlin 2022
After a fantastic experience at SHE Conference 2022 in Oslo, we were recently given the opportunity to join the Norwegian delegation at HubBerlin as well as gain some serious stage time for our founder Kimberly Larsen on the HubBerlin Global Stage.

HubBerlin 2022 took place in Funkhaus Berlin, a disused GDR radio station located in the old East Berlin district of Treptow-Köpenick. Its purpose is to forge a community for change agents who wish to contribute to the future of digital transformation. Utilising six key areas (Sustainability, Security, Policy, Digital Transformation, Emerging Tech and Lifestyle), the event connects hundreds of industry leaders and provides platforms for their people to pitch, poach and present.
IndyRIOT made its presence felt by sharing the importance for companies to manage their community and the relevance of our mission statement: It’s your data. Own it. The discussion was fruitful and gave space for a discussion on how companies should interact with their users and how IndyRIOT can help shape their future of digital transformation via community building and management. In her fireside chat, Kimberly discussed alternative ways to engage with users without relying only on social media platforms. Which sparked an interesting conversation on why users should care about having other community options.
Interestingly, digital sovereignty was one of the leading topics of the event, being discussed across more than 8 stages. Some other key speakers who touched on the importance and struggle of Digital Sovereignty included Judith Gerlach (State Minister of Digital Affairs in the state of Bavaria), Marcus Trapp (Head of Digital Innovation Design of IESE ), and Andreas Nitze (Country Manager German of ASML). This contributed to our experience by reinforcing the importance and challenges of not only the practical but also the ethical considerations of data ownership. It spoke to our mission statement at indyRIOT and our unwavering dedication to equip our customers with their data and truly give them ownership of this.

Being part of this event was a unique experience, as there were more than 5000 participants including experienced entrepreneurs, policymakers, and companies that each provide ways to collaborate on new and exciting innovations. If you have not checked out HubBerlin before, we seriously recommend it for you, your business and your networking opportunities.
